Carnival 2014

Picture
Carnival 2013
The Buckaneer Carnival Committee have announced that next year's Carnival theme will be Porthcawl Life since 1914. Great news!
On this page we hope to help groups or individuals understand what Porthcawl Society of 1914 was like.

Unfortunately, the Lifeboat did not exist.
When the dock closed in 1906 the need for a Lifeboat died with it. It was not re-instated until 1965.
Scouts and Girl Guides were in their infancy here in Porthcawl. The largest  groups were in Bridgend.

However , there were a lot of other social, sporting, working and commercial groups around.
