Porthcawl Museum is located in the Old Police Station, which was used as a working police station from 1877 to its closure in 1974.

Our collections include social, maritime and military history (particularly that of the 49th Recce Regiment, formed in Porthcawl in 1942), Victorian costumes and artifacts, railway history (of the DLPR, dating from 1825, and the GWR). We also have an 1866 drawing of the proposed new town of Porthcawl, a large collection of commemorative china donated by Mr & Mrs Redwood, and a library of local history photographs and slides. The Samtampa exhibition commemorates the tragic shipwreck at Sker Point in April 1947.

However, the First World War Centenary Exhibition is taking priority at the moment. Should you require to view items mentioned above, please contact the museum at porthcawlmuseum@hotmail.co.uk or telephone 01656788853
